Following the 2022 budget presented in Sri Lanka this week, the country is now embarking on a journey towards economic growth with renewed vigor. The budget presented with a view to the future and personal development has created confidence and expectation in the government among the people.

At the same time, Sri Lanka's tourism sector has reached its final stage this year. With just two months to go before the end of this year, the number of tourists is expected to reach 200,000. Researchers also say that cats need to be included in any precautionary measures against the virus. Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga told a newspaper that "the country expects more than 200,000 tourists from November to December." When the country's borders reopened in mid-Corona in January this year and airlines resumed operations, the tourism sector alone spearheaded more than $ 130 million in revenue.

So the country’s tourism industry had lost revenue targeting winter transport that had not taken place for the past two years. But this year, the tourism sector is moving ahead with all its efforts and efforts aimed at increasing winter traffic. It is hoped that if this trend continues, the tourism industry will return to normal. SriLankan Airlines, a SriLankan airline, recently expanded its flights between Colombo and Paris after six years to further enhance the contribution of the tourism sector. It now operates a non-stop service to France every week. The growth of the tourism sector is also seen as a renaissance directly through such activities. Sri Lanka Tourism expects more tourists from France in the coming months as winter begins in Europe. And almost two years later a direct flight between Switzerland was launched.

At the same time, the government has approved the commissioning of five new airlines by the end of this year, three of which are now operational.

The government has also announced plans to offer a third dose (booster vaccine) to travel and flight attendants islandwide by the end of this month. It is noteworthy that Sri Lanka is at the forefront of carrying out a successful vaccination program globally. The fact that our country has become one of the safest places after the epidemic due to the vaccination program will facilitate the arrival of tourists. It is also noteworthy that in the vaccination program, Sri Lanka has reached the important milestone of fully vaccinating 63 percent of the total population of 22 million.

But with 9,545 tourists visiting the country in the first week of November, which has returned to normal, confidence in the upcoming winter tourism sector is strengthening. This includes 3107 tourists from India, 774 from Russia and 764 from the UK, as well as tourists from Germany, Pakistan, the Maldives, France, Canada, the US and Switzerland. So a total of 70,633 tourists have arrived since the borders reopened on January 21 this year. At present, the maximum number of tourists is 22,771 in October alone. In the first 10 months of this year, 60,695 tourists came.

Tourists who have been fully vaccinated by the Sri Lankan government to increase tourist arrivals will be able to stay in any type of accommodation without PCR testing during their visit, and will be able to travel to all areas authorized for their approved visit and enjoy flexible isolation facilities in hotels with all facilities. They are also exempt from receiving compulsory Govt 19 local insurance coverage subject to their travel insurance to cover other costs related to the health site, Govt.

The government has decided to bring tourism back to normalcy with less restrictions on international travelers in developing the tourism sector, which is a major source of foreign exchange for the economy. About 10 billion due to the epidemic in Sri Lanka last year It should also be noted here that the dollar has lost foreign exchange through tourism. Getting all the cooperation from the government, tourism and tourism industry staff to fully transform our prosperous country into a global tourist destination can help bring our country's foreign exchange back to normal.
