Even though the government has decided not to import vehicles for MPs, those traveling in those vehicles are slandering the government.
There is a group that goes to the exhibition for fun. They can not understand what is there. What such people need to understand is that any final decisions of the government are made by the President, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.
This is the decision of the government and not of private ministers.
Also, when it comes to a government, does not everyone in that government have to think the same way?
Are our hands and fingers one? No, so there are people in every government who have different opinions and there are those who are willing to get a vehicle permit, so we must first understand that they are not the final decision of the government but their personal opinion. What is the right story about this vehicle? Are these vehicles imported only for ruling party MPs? Are Opposition MPs really reluctant to get these vehicles? Let's see what the real story of these is.
Today, in the absence of headlines, some opposition leaders say, "I do not want to get those vehicles." So you don’t have to import vehicles to say no? Also, when you see a massive protest, why not say “no vehicles” in the media? The matter was raised in Parliament nine months ago. Then why didn’t you say no to vehicles? Now, they are trying to muddy the waters one by one, but the real story of this incident is that nine months ago, some members of the opposition came together and asked the Speaker to provide them with vehicles. The reason is that after President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa became President, vehicle permits issued to Members of Parliament for so long were revoked. So these MPs are eager to get a new vehicle for themselves. Because there are about 100 new MPs in the current parliament, none of whom have been provided with new vehicles.
Not only members of the ruling party parliament but also members of the opposition informed the Speaker of the need for a vehicle. As Speaker of the House, the Speaker must support the issues of those Members of Parliament.
That is why the Speaker informed the Government about this. The incident happened about nine months ago, when Kovit-19 was not so serious.
When such a proposal is received from the Speaker, a decision is taken by the Cabinet after discussing the proposal. Normally anyone in Parliament can present a proposal to the Cabinet, but can they do so? Don't you That is for the Cabinet to decide.
The same was the case when the report on these vehicles came to the Cabinet. The government then decides, "No, there is no way to import many vehicles at this time. We have already decided to import the ambulances required for the health sector and the LC has been opened. Now we need to import only the vehicles required by the health sector." After receiving, the dream of former MPs waiting to board new vehicles was shattered? They became very uncomfortable because of that mess, and they started to put forward different opinions about their problem. However, opposition lawmakers felt they could not get new vehicles, so they took advantage of the situation by saying, "We do not need vehicles." Eventually the government got a bad name.
The steps I took to find out the truth about this also failed to find out. We need to understand one thing here. Even if something like this happened, people knew that this government was doing it for this country, but the vehicles were imported for money. Things like that do not happen today.
Members of Parliament are not gods, they have desires too. But it is their folly to think that the demand for the fulfillment of those desires will be the end of the government.
